I thought this could be an interesting thread for first timers like myself!!!
I've just done a version of the traditional Irish song 'Molly Malone' - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXOHYhmgoSA

and also this one's of the Welsh national anthem

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8_3skX8W94

as i'm new to this I would appreciate feedback!!! ~Have a look and tell me what you think!!! I know neither are perfect but hey, gotta start somewhere right?!

Thanks!! Steve

Ok, I am a newbie and am just way impressed by all the great uke videos posted by members of this forum. Now, I am sure you all did not START with great videos...

So swallow your pride and post (or re-post) some of your FIRST videos here, mistakes and all, so those of us way down the learning curve don't feel so bad about where we are. I think it would be a useful exercise to compare the beginnings with where you are now!

All right, here it is: All I Want is You (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gHY-qs-uUk0)

Truly aweful.

I originally had a version where I multi-tracked the harmonica bit… however I learned that Garageband is awesome at multi-tracking but iMovie not so much… I could not get the video properly synced (it would drift).

Hopefully I will get a chance to record Elephant Town (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53c4ZFOh2S0&feature=email) later this week.

My first (and most ambitious) ukulele video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4oPLmAgp0tE

This was done for the Reggae Contest, and since I had been playing ukulele only 2 months, I had a lot of false starts and redos. Had to transpose the whole thing when I realized it was not the best key for my husband to sing (even though I thought we tested that ahead of time). So, I ended up relearning the whole thing in a new key. It gets a little wacky here and there, and I know the beat is inconsistent, but I still like it, and we had fun making it.

When I started hanging out here 2 months ago...I would have told you there was no way in hell I was ever going to post a YT video. I was doing this for personal enjoyment, why would I want to put myself out there like that.

But, after you hang out here a while and get to meet people, you then start to have the desire to share your progress with your UU friends. And you also start to realize how encouraging everyone on here is. Pretty soon, the fear of posting your first video is gone and you can't wait to get something up. And that's how you get better...the more songs you learn, the more skill sets you work on for each different tune.

So...take a deep breath...and go make a video. I can't wait to see it. :shaka:

Wow everyone's first vids are so great! I got my uke months and months ago and haven't made any yet. Mostly because sadly I don't practice enough and haven't really learned any songs yet. I'd better get on that. I feel motivated now.

Welcome to UU. Great little song!

I loved the aside about what a Double Double is. Out here in California it means a double patty cheeseburger from the greatest burger chain in the world (http://www.in-n-out.com/default.asp).

…now I am hungry…

Not very good audio, but to make up for that I only had very few flubs. Hope someone out there enjoys it.

I forgot to post this in this thread. I did this video and two others on Sept. 11th, my birthday. I had been playing about 2 weeks when I did these.

Here is my first vid, a couple of days ago, and it was for a contest here... don't really expect anything from it, since I am a beginner, but it's good experience, right? :)

This (http://coldwarunicorn.tumblr.com/post/2757022263/proof-that-i-was-not-naked-in-the-prior-audio) was my rendition of Fountains of Wayne's "Half a Woman" from around January 8, so 2 weeks after I got my uke. I hate the sorry state my voice is in, but it was done at around 4 in the morning -- I had napped all day and decided to kill time with the uke in the seldom-used bathroom behind the garage.
