I tried a cello banjo and the low tone blew me away!
The banjo tenor uke is not in the same ballpark but I am curious about which strings to use to tune it one octave lower.
Has anyone tried to tune their tenor uke (banjo or no banjo) one octave lower?
Any other recommendation?

So G3 C3 E3 A3? The C3 is going to be tough to get on tenor scale. It is certainly possible on baritone scale since I recently got G2 C3 E3 A3 on a baritone scale with strings intended for guilele. Hmm, come to think of it, that might be a starting point for you. Guilele pitches are A2 D3 G3 C4 E4 A4. So you kinda need two each of the 4 and 5 strings. I think you would have to experiment with a lot of classical guitar strings to find the right gauges for the tension and tuning you want. Also these are all wound strings so I'd expect you to need some setup work for the nut at least to accommodate.
