As far as I can tell it is true, unfortunately. There is a gofundme page setup to help with funeral costs.

I was lucky enough to connect with Ray at his museum in San Francisco and again after many years at the Palm Springs Uke Fest this February. Ray's love of the ukulele was proudly over the top. If there is a ukulele heaven, Ray will be there.

A Celebration of Ukulele Ray's Life will be held May 6 at the American Legion Post in Escondido, from 1-6pm. Attendees are invited to pay tribute to both Ray and Harrison by wearing their own Sgt. Pepper jackets.
