I ordered Gotoh geared tuners ($84) from Japan. They arrived two months later, and I replaced the direct pegs. The Gotohs are a big improvement, and they look much better than the white tuners that came with the uke.
I have to make room, so this beautiful Kiwaya KS-5 is going up for sale. I’ve had it for a less than half a year, so it’s in great condition. It’s lightweight and loud, with a very nice tone. I bought it from Elderly.
