Jive Aces and Yellow Makala

Someone posted this on another forum. It has an odd beginning, but it picks up by :45. Who says you need an expensive instrument to be a professional? : )

It looks like they got their start on Britain's Got Talent in 2012.

There's been a few threads on here about the Jive Aces.

However, IIRC that may not always be a Makala that Ian (the lead singer and uke player) is playing as Mahalo is famous for making that 'Smiley' uke, which is most often seen in yellow, to coordinate with the typical smiley face, which we see often as this emoji:

:)

EDIT: it is in some of the videos of their live performances, and a few where they feature the wonderful singer Rebecca Grant, where it is shown that Ian plays the yellow Mahalo Smiley uke...

I used to see them play live at swing clubs when I was a kid in the mid 90’s.

They were really fun. They were super into scientology and some of their early songs referenced it hit a bit.

It seems to me that the smiley uke is mainly Ian's prop.
He has relatives near here, and during his last visit he told me, via Facebook that he would come to our jam session and lead us in Give Me Sunshine, if I'd give him a ride. I said "Done, tell me where to pick you up."
Never heard from him again.
