I had looked at some Brukos, and I liked their slightly unusual design in terms of wood color, but I never saw one that appealed to me enough to spend the money. Luckily, Vic put one up for sale here, and I bought it within a few hours. It'a walnut concert, and I love the looks. Notice the arched back. When I received it on Friday, I tuned it, and I immediately loved the sound.

I have another one coming from Vic tomorrow, so I'll post that soon.

Very nice, congrats. I recently bought a Hadean walnut bass uke from Rondo, the wood looks very similar, though I like the center strip on yours. The arch in the back should help the projection, it certainly does on my Lanikai Thinline.

Rondo Hadean Walnut 800.jpg

8 tenor cutaway ukes, 3 acoustic bass ukes, 8 solid body bass ukes, 7 mini electric bass guitars

That looks gorgeous. I see they've gone over to geared tuners. I have three Brukos, a pearwood soprano, a rosewood comcert and a standard no. 9 tenor and they all have friction tuners.

Yes, I do like that light-colored center line, although larger and lighter would be even better. : )

A friend has a Gold Tone bass, and re just replaced the rubber strings with steel. He also put steel guitar strings on his resonator uke. His tuning knobs look very similar to yours.

I prefer geared tuners, but I also like the knobs sticking out the back, rather than from the sides. I'm putting Gotoh tuners on a couple of ukes.

Brüko changed the tuners from the friction models to the geared ones early last year only. ANd they use them only on the concert and tenor models, all soprano models, including the longneck sopranos (or super supranos) are still made with the standard tuners. But of course, you can get a customised model with the geared tuners as well.

And that walnut model that Jerryc41 bought is certainly a very nice piece of wood. They do indeed have an eye for some good-looking woods for their ukes at Brüko's!

For anyone interested: THey just added a new custom pineapple model to their range. You can find them on their new website.

Congrats on your new baby!

Those bass tuning machines are pretty much standard on Chinese made bass ukes. I've replaced them on a few of my bass ukes with HipShot licensed Ultralite 3/8" which come in Y, clover and lollipop shapes, in black, satin chrome, bright chrome and gold.

German language review of the Bruko Pineapple, with some English words thrown in. It has the stripe on the neck and the Bruko Bulge" on the back. Apparently, it's "zuper!" Watch it to the end when he plays it. Notice his head movement and facial expression. : )

I've considered replacing the tuners with planetary tuners but it's the cost that's a factor. I see Eagle music here in the UK have some banjo tuners that might do the trick for a bit less.

I put standard geared tuners on a Fluke, with the knobs facing back.
