You can turn signatures off:

User CP->Settings & Options->Edit Options->Thread Display Options->Show Signatures

I'm not a big fan of images in signatures (sorry Dominic)...it would be better to have a link.

I think its okly annoying when I scroll down and the picture is so large that it fills my web browser screen lol.

As long as they're within the rules, no.

Generally, if a single image does that, it shouldn't be in a signature.

Ditto. I registered on these forums a long time before I actually posted, just so I could turn sigs off. But now that I don't see them I could care less what people do! ;)

I wouldn't say they annoy me, but some are a little on the large size. I was quite surprised when I first got here and saw the size of them (insert innuendo here). Most forums I have used do limit the size of their users sigs, which is why I make mine 600x150 as this seems to be the size most forums accept. I'm not sure how many lines of text this is equal to.
Some of the sites I have used had flash enabled for sigs, which meant I could display all my music and videos in my sig. :shaka:

I've turned off all sigs. It's the only way I can take surfing this site.

But to answer your question, I do find them extremely annoying, and often very stupid.

I find them a bit of a pain if they are a big picture, But saying that, somtimes they bring my eye to a poster I know, so I think small is good.

Uh-oh! Starting to smell like conformity around here. large sigs don't really bother me. Ok, one did but she changed it really quickly after some good-natured ribbing from someone else on the forums. Wasn't me -- I have no clue how to do that kind of stuff.

It doesnt bother me unless its offensive, I guess that would vary with who you are. So, while the woman w/ the ukulele is attractive, its unnecessary on a forum like this. And dont forget, there are a lot of woman uke players on this forum. And often my children are around while I am reading the forum, and my daughter did see that picture and asked what I was looking at. So to be fair, sigs should have rules.I just think these forums get too silly. Some are here to seriously learn. All IMO!!

I already miss Dominicfoundthemooon's sig... Heck, his username fills almost as much screen as his sig did.

I like the sigs - they show personality, and it's the personalities here that I love. No reason to change them since people who don't like them can turn them off!

ill admit, im somewhat the UU sig nazi. it kinda fell upon me when i was asked to request that someone resize their sig image size. personally i have always found it a little annoying, but i tolerated it because i always had high speed interweb access. but as a moderator, i have to try to keep both sides happy. so if the sig size catches my eye, then its probably one of two things. 1. a totally awesome out of this world sig that no matter what size will draw attention by anyone within a 10mile radius or 2. its too big.

nothing personal when i send a PM to someone to resize their sig. and after the first incident, i always took it upon myself. so its between me and the owner of the sig only. im not out to embarrass or single out anyone. just trying to keep things running smooth. so if i send you a request to resize, dont take it personal please, and remember that youre not the only one.

k thnks buhbye.

Personally, I am not keen on sig images that are larger than the member's avatar. They break up the flow of the conversation and are distracting.

But if I hadn't been asked I wouldn't have mentioned it. :p

Large signatures are undesirable in my opinion, but I *really* dislike signatures (not to mention smilies such as :shaka:) that move, jump around, and twitch... These are the most annoying. Kinda like ads on the Weather Channel and CNN... Yuck!

I have images disabled partly because my internet connection is stuck in 1996, but mostly because I just hate seeing giant pictures in a post/sig. I think forums need image size limits. I cringe every time I go to a forum like Squat the Planet (http://www.squattheplanet.com/forum/) where they even allow giant images for avatars. Just looks so cluttered and disgusting.

I highly dislike big sigs. I think there should be a pixel height cap, at something reasonable like 200 or 250 pixels tall. And there should also be a file size cap so that nobody can stick a massive GIF int their sig, because those eat up teh internets.

I dislike large sigs. They 're like SUVs: big, ugly, inefficient.

Simple solution: turn off images in signatures. If people want to make a graphic impression, they can use their avatar. Or do all sorts of creative things on their own site or blog.

Some forums don't show the same person's signature after every single post they make on the page; if they post a few times in a row, their sig only shows up on the last post. This might be a nice compromise, if it's possible with the system UU uses.

Or, better yet, have an option to turn off images in signatures. That way those people who like them can see them and those who don't can't.

Depends if you have text which adds to the image, it wont make any sense.
