Yeah, I feel like Southcoast and Aquila are completely different planets and, unless you just need some random strings, you'll be disappointed with the difference. Worth is a lot closer, but I defer to people who actually play 8-string.
 
Living Waters makes Tenor 8-string sets, but they are unwound. (I like these on my 8-string.)

Ko'olau makes a Tenor wound-C. I don't know whether they make a wound Low-G or not.

Kamaka makes an 8-string tenor as does Kanile'a. Though I think Kanile'a has an agreement to use Aquila strings. Kamaka has strings branded with their name.
 
Fashion is fickle. Aquila Nylgut Tenor 8 string sets USED to have wound strings for the low G but went to Red a while back. Honestly I'm not really a fan of the Red strings but on the 8 string tenor I don't notice it and it works just fine.

I'm sure that wound or unwound strings will continue to go into and out of fashion.
