Sweet stuff mate, thanks for posting! 
I mainly purchased the Yamaha GL1 for my granddaughter to learn on, for the price they are awesome value & they are built strong enough to take a few of those inevitable knocks

Thanks for the listen Cam. I think it compared pretty well with other one you played in your recent posts - especially given the price. I might have to try those strings - I just have cheap guitar stings on at the moment. Have you tried the higher tension ones?
Intonation on mine is iffy at times - mainly the G and B strings.

I'm using the Savarez 520 R High Tension strings, they work nicely for tension & tone with A to A tuning on the Yamaha, I buy them here https://www.stringsbymail.com/savar...ed-basses-ht-guitar-strings-full-set-956.html
