Hi im brand new to the ukulele. I primary play piano but dabble in the guitar. I was just wondering if anyone knows about these ukuleles and how they sound and perform from guitar center and musician's friend . Also if there are any other ukuleles on these sites that may be better could you let me know my parents are really worried about identity theft and all that good stuff so staying with a big name company would be better.

1. Mitchell MU70 12-Fret Concert Ukulele (http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ukuleles-Stringed-Instruments.gc)

2.Fender Hau'oli Mahogany Tenor Ukulele(http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-Hau-oli-Mahogany-Tenor-Ukulele-581090-i1446873.gc)

3.Lanikai LU-21 Standard Ukulele(http://folk-instruments.musiciansfriend.com/product/Lanikai-LU21-Standard-Ukulele?sku=512519)

4.Oscar Schmidt OU2 Concert Ukulele(http://folk-instruments.musiciansfriend.com/product/Oscar-Schmidt-OU2Concert-Ukulele?sku=514014)

Any information on theses instruments would be greatly appreciated thank you very much :shaka:

I'm assuming you're looking for an entry level instrument given the choices you've listed. See this thread for more info and hopefully doesn't add to the confusion. Here's another reference thread regarding the different sizes. Budget and size are factors to consider on a first purchase. As far as buying online, I would highly recommend the vendors on this site such as MGM, Mainland Ukes and Uke Republic. Elderly also has a good selection of instruments.

If you search the forums, there are some reviews/threads that mention the ukes you refered to. Alot of people start out with a cheap uke and quickly with they had spent a little extra to get a better instrument. Consider a solid wood uke or at least a solid top.

What is your budget?

How did you like playing the Guitar?

This is a hard recommendation.

I've tried both the Oscar Schmidt and Mitchell. The OS had standard strings and it wasnt very loud but playable.. The Mitchell MU70 I tried at my local Guitar Center was horrible.. the MU100 was way better. My bro inlaw bought the MU100 and put on Aquilas.. its way louder that my Kala KA-C. For the Money.. You will probably get a better deal from MGM.. Look him up here in UU. I personally have not bought anything from him (YET) but he comes very highly recommended.

I have 3 uks, planning on buying my forth. I have bought each of my grandsons uks, Totaling 5 uks.

Two of these uks I bought local (junk) I have bought as I say three from MGM, Mike. I can't say enough good about Mike, I called him several times he was always there to answer any and all questions. His shipping was very fast. So do your self a favor check out MGM.
