Bathsheba

Now you need to do one about the prophet Nathaniel who confronted David over his murderous actions
by telling the story of a rich man slaughtering a poor man's lamb for his own feast.

David knowing the law from Leviticus says that the rich man should pay back 4 fold
and Nathaniel says you are the man. There then follows the horrendous recounting
of how David loses 4 of his sons.

He pronounced judgement out of his own mouth and he was so hoping that his own
prophecy would not come true. 3 sons die and Absalom is in rebellion and during a battle
he is caught up in the branches of a tree by his glorious hair and is then killed.

And David is full of concern for his son and when hearing of the battle the only thing he
can ask is “What about young Absalom?” the king demanded. “Is he all right?”

You have to ponder the inevitability of judgement. Everyone wants to escape it.

End of story.
