Neck from Thailand

I just ordered a mahogany concert neck with slotted headstock on eBay. It's $10.69 with free shipping. The seller is in Thailand, so the arrival date is toward the end of November. Eventually, it will be part of a banjo uke. It's amazing how worldwide buying works these days.

What scale length are you planning for the banjo build, Jerry? And what diameter of hoop?

I have a 10" drum, like the type they use for the Firefly. I'm leaning toward a concert because I like that slotted headstock.

I owe an apology. When I read Jerry's proposal, I did a quick mental calculation. It seemed to me that the concert scale neck - joining at the fourteenth fret, presumably - would place the bridge too close to the rim of the drum. I was wrong. It should work out just fine.

I look forward to seeing the finished instrument.
