NUD: Banjo Uke - Homemade

I experimented with this banjo uke ($40 in parts) to learn what to do and not do for my next build. It looks nice, and it sounds pretty good, but there is some inconsistency in the sound of the fretted strings. Live and learn.

I bought both the neck and the maple fretboard because I didn't see the need to make them from scratch.

Haven't gotten to mine because I really need to clean up the rest of the house.
How did you solve the string height due to neck angle?
I may even try it as a cookie tin uke, and just screw the neck to the body.
