Storage unit contents look very intriguing!

This came to my attention and I'd make an offer on the lot if I knew enough to be reasonable to low end. Side-bender jig, solera board, sides and back sets, a lot of stuff, a tote with chisels, etc. The seller buys storage units at auction and turns them around for a profit. She didn't know much about the things pictured here so couldn't set a price. I would go on the low side but don't even have enough smarts yet to know what that might be.

I'm just getting started and own a bending iron, so I might be interested in that bending jig. I do plan to build a couple more (at least) ukuleles, but want to build a few guitars. Any help on an offer?

I can't give you a price, but I can tell you my experience. Twice I've had similar situations where there was a misc. group of luthierie supplies for sale.You have to be very careful. A set of sides, or back and top wood may look good at first, but often it may be there because the builder did not want to use it. Flaws or some other reason. So, you can't just count the sets and figure a price on how many there are. There may be other factors. And, when buying things like the necks pictured, you will be committed to build around the design/construction that the builder was using, which may not be something you had planned on. I have a number of necks saved from over the years that look like necks, but are not useable. When I die someone is going to look at the pile and maybe be counting them as useable necks.Luckily I won't be around for them to get mad at! So, low end bidding is your best bet. If you don't get it, no worries. In the long run you may be better off not getting it anyway. If you do good in the casino, then maybe you're safer bidding than most. Good luck.--Bob

I found out a man from Portland paid $1,500 for the wood alone. In good weather I am 3 hours plus away from where this stash was. With all the snow that we've had oh, no guarantees. He was 45 minutes away and had a chance to look it over... I'd really like to know what was in that! Oh well.
