Making a cigar box uke

That is an interesting site, with much good information. I've made around ten cigar-box ukes, and I prefer to build them quite a bit lighter than this. The end blocks, bracings and linings look very substantial. I see they also make cigar-box fiddles, and the very strong construction makes sense where high tension metal strings are involved. For a uke, with low tension synthetic strings, a much lighter form will probably give a better sound, allowing it to vibrate well at lower frequencies.

Just my two penn'orth.
