I have a spare pre slotted nut with slightly wider string spacing, that I’d like to try on one of my Ukuleles.

It fits and I have fine tuned the slots and the intonation is spot on.

The only difference from the original is the thickness/depth of the nut between the end of the fingerboard and headstock. It is noticeably narrower, but looks fine.

Because it is fitted to the end of the fingerboard and not in a channel, does it matter or make any difference other than aesthetics?

Provided the string length, from the fingerboard side of the nut to the bridge is still the same, there'll be no difference other than, as you say, aesthetics.

Given that you've got the intonation "spot-on" I'd say "Job done!"

Thanks, that's good to know. I appreciate your reply
