I took delivery of this Kanile'a last night from HMS. It's only my second ukulele, my first being a Breedlove concert. I'm very pleased with the workmanship and setup on the instrument. My first ukulele came with the same Aquila strings which I was happy with, until I replaced them a couple weeks ago with Martin fluorocarbons. That instrument came alive! The Aquilas on the new Kanile'a are producing the same sound characteristics as the Breedlove did. I would describe it as 'thuddy' and lacking sparkle. However, the sustain on this tenor is miles better! I'm thinking strings more to my liking will transform an already wonderful instrument into a lifetime keeper for me!

Congratulations. That is a particularly beautiful Kanile’a!

Yeah, go ahead and take off the Aquila, and put on the fluorocarbons. My preference is Oasis (warms or brights).
Are you considering putting a low G string on it or are you going to keep it reentrant ?

Thank You, Doc_J !
I was on the lookout for an example of this Oha model that had some 'character' in the wood.
I will be staying with reentrant tuning for the time being. I've read good things about the Oasis strings, I'll have to try them. I'll probably order a grab bag of strings to keep me busy!
