Hi,

I was wandering through a nearby antique store today and came across what appears to be a tenor uke made by M & R guitars of Leicester, UK.

It appears to be made out of Bog Oak and in near perfect condition excep for a small tight crack on the back near the bookmatch seam, close to the back/side seam. The crack seems tight and old ( Barely visible to the naked eye but definitely caught the fingernail).

They claim to build guitars (and ukes) from only native British woods.

Has anyone ever heard of them? Or know anything about them? Google search doesn’t reveal much.

Also anyone ever played a bog oak uke? Thoughts?

Thanks!

Is it all oak or just the back & sides?

I think I've seen a Yew ukulele made by Pete Howlett. Don't remember if it had a different wood top or not.

I've played many a bog standard uke. They're, well, OK-ish.:D
