For years I've been attaching strings to my bari's using the Classical guitar tie method, even tho' they have an 8 hole bridge, I've just been using 4 holes. Recently I watched a video on YouTube from Lanikai which says there is an increase in volume by using the 8 hole method, and that we should "Give it a try!" It made sense because of a better angle on the string at the bridge, putting more pressure on the sound board. So I 'gave it a try' & can report that there's a substantial increase in volume, without doubt. I found it a fussier job to do, it's much easier my old way, but with more practice I'll probably warm to it. I definitely think it's worth the extra fiddling around to get the extra volume.
