ok for the past year ive been messing around on my guitar and now my uke...i wanna step it up a notch and learn some real scales. how can i practice them? what are they? where can i find them? help me please

I love scales too. But I think learning how to apply what you know to actual music is the most important thing. What's the use in learning a harmonic minor scale if you can't apply it to anything? The best place to learn scales are from guitar books, vids or webpages. Guitar players have the best info.
If you want modes you can check my vids on applied theory.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6A-bWXjtTgI&feature=channel_page

Two parts check it out.:shaka:

I hate theory :(

I understand the theory right.
Like where the notes are etc.. As above links those videos helps alot, for even guys like me. But does it make me a bad ukulele player if i dont know all the notes on the fretboard. For example(i love examples!) i was playing a song, and i hit the E string on the 11th fret. Someone stops me and asked "what note is that?" I'd be clueless. Its not an automatic thought.
Like if you've given me a timestable like "Whats 2x2?" I'd say 4:p, so its a force of habit. But with this theory Its not. I feel like Im sort of skipping through the basics and just jumping on songs.

What you guys reckon? Anyone in my shoes now? Please tell me Im not alone

When the Reverend Gary Davis was asked if he could read music, he replied, "Not enough to hurt my playing." Same applies to learning scales. IMHO :D
