Here's the info for the movies that are going to happen after the Twin Cities Ukulele Orchestra tears it up on the 23rd.
Double Feature:
1. Man and Woman (1972) - An edited version of Zeffirelli's "The Taming of the Shrew" with excerpts from the film and a narration by Orson Welles. Part of a series, "Great Themes in Literature," the film compares Shakespeare's view of the battle of the sexes with the more somber positions of Henrik Ibsen, Edward Albee, and Tennessee Williams. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. The love-hate conflict between man and woman has been tackled by writers since time immemorial.
2. A Well Spent Life (1972) - Many people consider Texas bluesman Mance Lipscomb to be the greatest blues guitarist and songster of all time. This glowing portrait of the legendary musician (also life-long husband and sharecropper) is among Les Blank’s special masterworks. Instead of growing bitter, tough times made Lipscomb sweet. This is also the favorite film of Kurt Vonnegutt, Jr.

Celebrating its 5th year, Northeast Music and Movies in the Park, a staple in the summer scene, returns for another season of great local bands and classic films under the stars. The outdoor screenings and live music take place in the uniquely well-suited Basin (and natural amphitheater) across from Jackson Square Park and Edison High School on all five Tuesday nights in June, including a double feature on June 23 right after the Northeast Parade. Bands at 8pm. Movies at dusk.
(In case of rain, events are moved to the YMCA just across the park unless otherwise noted.)
