"Making" a Shipping Box

I tend to save large shipping boxes so I'll have something available to ship a large item when the time comes. I've been cutting large boxes down for years, and I just came across this article on the frets site. Size, weight, and distance determine the cost of shipping, so making the box just the right size can save you money.

Very nice.

Finding a box can be such an issue.
Much to my wife's distress, I was hoarding boxes in my basement until this summer.
Then the basement flooded this summer with the big rains in MN. Ugh!
What a mess. That will teach me to keep them off the ground...

I've bought a stack of 32x12x10 boxes from U-line.
They are about $2 a box, right sized for up to tenors and ship well.
It will cost much more than $2 using too big a box.

Sorry about the flood. damned global warming. Anyhoo, I do the same and kind of hide whatever I got. On the couple I traded it saved a ton of money. The first one I sold that went in one of the big rectangular boxes cost an arm and a leg.
