I was fortunate to pick up the Martin C1-K that a UUer made available
earlier this month. Please search "Martin CK-1 and Hard case" for his pictures
I took it to our weekly STRUM Song Circle last night and it performed
very well... perhaps too well. By that I mean it was a bit difficult for
me to tone down the volume as one of our members sang Beyond the Sea in French.
But it had more than enough volume to help me lead the singing for
the rest of the songs.
I may experiment with strings to get a more mellow and possibly a low
G sound
I'm very happy with the purchase and would recommend the 'made in Mexico'
Martin Concerts based on my short experience with this one.
FWIW I have seen threads bemoaning the appearances of some of
these ukes, referring to poorer quality Koa where the grain and/or
color was washed out so unappealing in their eyes. My suggestion
is to make sure you at least have a picture to go by before you make
your purchase.
