I have been playing ukulele for some years, mostly casually figuring things out on my own.
Been recently thinking of upgrading from the cheap (but lovely) lanikai to a newer tenor ukulele between the price range of 300 - 400 dollars.

Found 2 models that pinned my interest, only of them has a video preview of the products.

Doesn't have to be Kala spesific as a brand, but id rather not go with another Mahogany Soprano (which I already have)

I played the spruce/lacewood from Mike at www.ukerepublic.com after Jake's show. I was extremley impressed with the sound and beauty of the instrument. If I wasn't saving up for a KoAloha, i would have bought it right then and there.

Everyone seems to favor the KoAloha, I don't get it. I have tried their Soprano's and they don't do it for me at all.:(

The Duke of Uke in London praises the Lacewood and said they are a very good buy.

Thanks for the contribution guys!
Well I have a small dilema with the first one due to the fact I can't plug it into anything. But its sheer small size and impressive sound makes it very tempting.

Good to hear that the lacewood is pretty good :)

I've got one of those Kala Lacewood/Spruce Cutaway Tenors. I love that uke so much!!

Here's a video with it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OV93tYPDMc8

And here's a thread I made with pictures of it and descriptions: http://www.ukuleleunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13697

If you end up getting one, you might wat to try talking to Mike at UkeRepublic.com. I got mine through him and he gave me a great deal with a case and a kala t-shirt.

This uke has such incredible volume, its just unbelievable. I was playing and my roomate in the next room over thought It was a full sized nylon string guitar

I hope this helps with your decesion! :shaka:

Yeah it is certainly helpful! well I forgot to say that I do have some restrictions on getting a ukulele. I was thinking of getting one ordered to an American address as I live in Norway (high unecessary taxes when buying stuff from abroad). Thats why I had been looking for legit ukulele sellers at ebay. My big sister is currently in the United States now and will get her to order a ukulele to his address while she is there.

If this guy you are talking about accepts paypal, I'd be interested to know more about him!

Yep, you pay him through paypal. Shoot him an email (through this page here) and ask whatever you need to know about it. He's a swell guy, really understanding and helpful. Plus he gives great deals ;)

I have Kala travel soprano bought from Risa. It is an awesome instrument, very loud and very nice and easy to play. There is only one issue - the head is much heavier then the ukulele body - but I think I need to get used to it.
