after a long road trip (to the desert southwest w/ one dog, so left all ukes at home), came home to this Kanilea Kanile'a OHA concert:

Kanilea's usual wood options for Koa tops for their non-Oha lines are "select", "deluxe", "premium", "master"... I think I might have gotten a bit of everything?

Will photos be bigger if I upload link instead of jpg?
Guess I won't find out for a little while since google photos stores photos as HEIC & not something repost-useful like jpg.

Larger resolution, hopefully: https://photos.google.com/u/3/share...?key=M1lWcHM1Ml95SGhqSVhxdnJNS3A4TEl4Y1NtOWR3

Might come back to edit this post a few times to play around w/ photo upload options...

Andreas David probably has the best video on Oha s.

Now to decide on & change out strings....

Very attractive Koa top. They seem like very good instruments for the price. Enjoy.

Thanks! could take a while... as my experience w/ comparing ukes/tonewoods is very limited... takes me a while to come up w/conclusive thoughts, or even impressions sometimes.
Nice, can't wait to hear your thoughts on it!

I let it slip from me the first time I held it. Was a bit of a chase back & forth over the Pacific & probably a few ferry rides... then an astute dealer gave a surprise nudge... Then I had to figure out how to sneak it into the collection w/o other members of the household noticing, LOL.

This particular uke kicked off the latest multi-uke spree/in-home audition. Non-Gloss Doghair is still not out of the running:cool:.
I'm gonna end up w/ way more concerts than what's remotely rational.... if I'm not already there (six total I think but only 3 are solid so...)

Stolen from another thread:
I like to keep it simple......”it’s a ukulele so I need to buy it” :shaka:

I surprised myself & am gonna say, I'm keeping the strings (for a few months at least) to try to get an idea of what the "Kaile'a sound" is... Not sure how often nylgut strings are supposed to get changed, how/if they get overstretched w/ time.

I only now just saw HMS's sound clips 1:38:27 & thoughts 1:43:27 on the Oha...

Wanted to give a little plug to to Chee/Maisel's upcoming Uke Retreat... the retreat includes a commemorative Oha!
(I've never met them, only have bought a few straps from them http://www.cheemaisel.com/straps

Congratulations, this one is indeed VERY special. Extremely rare to see this kind of figures on Kanilea's Oha line. Would love to hear the story of how it slipped away from you and then got back...
