I've had a Dixie Banjo Uke for about as long as I can remember. I'm sure I had this by the time I was 10, back in the early 1950s.
I never thought to much about what it was or where it came from. I just had it, and never learned to play it or the several harmonicas I had with it in my toy box.
The other day I decided to google it, and here I am.
I came to have it because my grandfather was the sales representative for Acme Aluminum Alloys in Dayton, Ohio, where the metal body for this instrument was cast.
My father told me the other day that Acme didn't assemble them, but made only the castings. One day his father, my grandfather, brought one home for me.
Does anyone know more about where these were manufactured?
