Hi everyone,

I'll be spending the day in Paris France this coming monday on my way to S.Africa for thesis research.

By any chance would someone know of any stores in Paris (or close to it) that sell ukes? I'd really love to be able to try out some in a store for once, maybe even get my hands on a Brueko.

Thanks

I don't know if they are only online stores or if they got a real store..

Ah, j'adore Paris! Il faut aller au coin de la rue Argentine et Avenue de la Grande Armee, il y a une patisserie tres bonne! Bonne chance et j'espere que tu trouves un ukulele a vendre!

Yeah, I saw that and checked them out earlier. Two of them are only online, and the one with a store is out near Nice, so I don't think it will work for me.

Hahaa. Thanks for the tip on where to find some nice cake. I'll keep looking online for music stores in Paris, and maybe call some to see if they carry ukes.

Any help would still be greatly appreciated.

Yeah something tells me they don't have ukuleles at Fnac. I'll call my friend Charlie and see if he knows of any music stores, but he's not a musician and so he might not know. Hey go here http://www.ukulele.fr looks like there is a free concert, Agathe, on June 6 at 8pm at Cafe le Cercle, 1 rue Gay-Lussac, across from the Jardin du Luxembourg, and tomorrow a guy named Andrea Roncolini is doing a free gig at Falabar, rue Alexandre Dumas, in the 20th Arrondissment. I'm jealous, I wish I were going to Paris as well, I really do love it there and have spent a lot of time there.

Ahh what a shame.. I would have liked to hear how the shop was, cause I'm going to backpack around Europe this summer, so I would have liked to know if it was worth a stop..
Well have a nice trip anyway :)

I went ukulele hunting the last time I was in Paris and didn't come up with much, mostly because I was on very limited time... So I spent the morning hunting, then went for a walk around - saw the Moulin Rouge, went up to the Sacre Cour cathedral etc...

I couldn't find any specialist uke stores, so I went with a guitar playing workmate to the guitar-ish section of the city. I saw a few ukes through the windows there, but in typical French fashion everyone was striking so the shops were closed. The ukes I did see did not seem to be particularly special - Mahalos and Kala's mostly, but being able to enter the stores you might have more luck.

So if you want to try the guitar area, you want to get off at the Pigalle metro station and have a walk around the surrounding blocks. I'm on a poor internet connection at the moment, so the closest I can get you out of Google maps is Rue (de) Douai.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on!

Fantastic! I remember passing through the metro at Pigalle last summer when a spent a few weeks in Paris.

I'll go visit there first thing during my day and browse the shops around there. :)
