ukulele with whammy bar

I think the whammy bar officially makes it a toy guitar... :p

On that custom, it's pretty cool IMO. Heavy, and you'd no doubt need a strap, but for some uke-abilly or rock, it would be fun to have.

Not on an everyday axe, but for some experimental pieces - I like it.

I prefer Whoopy Cushions.

I think it's a bit much, really...

There have been ukes that look like tiny guitars, especially those crazy archtop ukes (not just the Kala, but the $3k one that people have been posting about), and I really liked that when I started playing, but the more I start to appreciate the uke in its own right (having gone from watching almost exclusively uke covers of rock songs on YouTube to making an effort to learn about Hawaiian music and ukulele musicians) the less I like the "guitar for people who can't play guitar" thing.

Just because something CAN be done, doesn't mean it SHOULD be done! I can't believe that after 60 or so years of development, anyone is still putting a Bigsby style trem on ANY new instrument - it's guaranteed to go out of tune. Either give me a locking trem (for divebombing stupidity), or a Jazzmaster style "floating remote tremolo", for more subtle stuff.

It is a Frankenstein of an ukulele but I like it! Why limit your tonal posibilities?
Don't put it down until you've heard what it can do in the right hands.

I dont even think that the bar would work better then bending the strings with your fingers. :D

Putting a Bigsby on a uke doesn't make sense to me. On guitar, they often suck some tone and sustain away, not to mention knock it out of tune. I can only imagine that these problems would multiply on the ukulele.

Well when its all said and done....

This brings me back to my ?????
If you take a Tenor Guitar and string/tune it gCEA "renterant" is it not now a Ukulele?
http://www.tenorguitar.com/glance.html

If this is a "toy' guitar and not a Ukulele then what is a Lap Steel Uke???
It has steel strings.
http://www.myamoeukuleles.com/model lap steel.html

And wouldn't a Low G Ukulele be a "Toy" Guitar also then???

So follwing this line of thought the only "real" Ukulele is my beloved Soprano's!!!!!!!

A tenor guitar strung gCEA would be just a tenor guitar strung gCEA. You cant use nylon strings, well not without signifigant reduction of the sound and you would have to use custom steel strings to get the same tuning.

A lap steel uke is just that: A 4 string lap steel instrument tuned gcea.

And ukes strung in low G are not guitars (though they often sound more like classical guitar than ukulele)

Better yet, how about one of several plug-ins that do the job nicely and don't knock your tuning out.
