I'm guessing it will be about 10-1 males to females, if not higher. This ratio will not reflect the actual uke-playing people in real life.

I would say the ratio is much more equal in real life, almost 1-1.

REPRESENT! :p

It is interesting though...like, at the UWC - it was probably like an 8 men to 1 woman ratio, but at my weekly uke group, it's usually about 3 women to 1 man.

...if we start having a larger male turn-out now, I'll know why ;)

Your poll is skewed because men are likely over represented on Internet forums. Ladies too often have "hobbies" like cooking, cleaning and laundry. Men, especially single ones, consider these activities "non-essential". Some might add bathing to the list. :D

PUTTING ON FLAME RETARDANT SUIT AND HIDING BEHIND THE SOFA

I didn't say you wanted those hobbies, but that men avoid them.

I completely agree with you. At the Northern California Ukulele Festival, and at most ukulele things it seems the guys way out number the girls. But in my beginner ukulele class, we had about 12 women and no guys. My intermediate class had about 10 women and two guys...

The poll is, of course, very localized. All it will tell you is how many registered members who chose to respond answered male or female. It won't tell you how many members are one sex or the other, since all memebrs will not respond. Nor will it tell you how many of the respondents chose to answer the opposite sex just to throw off the results. It's like asking how many members prefer red or blue.

It certainly won't tell you how many male or female ukulele players there are, ven among members.

I guess I need to deconstruct my original post.

1) Ladies too often have "hobbies" (quotes for sarcasm)

2) Men, ... consider these activities "non-essential" (see above)

3) Some (men) might add bathing to the list. (:D)

So, who did UkeNukem dis in the original post?

To confess, (forgive me DEACH for I have sinned) I added the post to "encourage" (quotes for sarcasm - in case anyone missed them) the ladies to jump into the discussion.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! :nana:

The TCUO is split fairly evenly by gender for whatever it's worth.

(says the hygienic guy who does the cooking, cleaning & laundry in his household. :D)

Guess what, Lisa? I found the thread.

I don't even know how to answer.

One way I have found to stop doing my pesky "hobbies" is to hire somebody to do them. Let them "enjoy" the fun. I figure if Paul (my husband) thinks they're not fun hobbies, why should I? He does make me do the laundry, though. He's still waiting for the dark socks I'm supposed to be washing. Question is, though -- if he needs them so badly why doesn't he wash them?

Don't let me get too close to UkeNukem.:uhoh:

"Don't let me get too close to UkeNukem."

Well, Sukie, if you were to ask Mrs. Nukem whether or not I contribute my share of such "hobbies" she would say that I am a "model prisoner". :)

Transgendered?
I'd say just vote for the gender you feel you are despite the incorrect OEM parts.
