He physically handed it to me.

Did you hand it back afterwards?

Of course I handed it back. It was the most incredible instrument I've ever seen/played. The curl in the koa is unreal. I still can't believe it.

That's cool! I touched Sam Bush's Mandolin - a 1910 or earlier Gibson - once. I think I felt it humming..

Kamaka can make you an exact duplicate 'ukulele of Jake's for a nominal fee.
Did anyone have a camera handy?

Haha I know what you mean about the humming. I swear i could feel footstep vibrations resonating in Jake's uke.

Okay, okay. I saw him after a show when everyone else had left. I asked him if i could have a look at his Kamaka and he said, and I quote, "Yeah, you can play it!". So we talked and jammed for a bit and he showed me some songs he was working on and we just had a great time. Jake's such a great person. Very genuine. I'm so greatful.

Nope. Him playing it was enough for me :).

I have not met an artist who is as cool, kind and gracious as Jake is to his fans. I've met/worked with some that have come close but Jake takes the cake hands down.

Really...this is an awesome story!!

Your gonna leave your brudder out of the story?! How could you?!

Yeah, WE got to chill with Jake and play his uke, as well as hear him play a few songs he's been working on. It was just the three of us. He even told the security guards that he's fine finding his way out by himself.

We went back and forth playing songs on it and we also played one of our own songs together for Jake.

Most unrealistic moment of my life! Everything in life goes down hill after a moment like that. I'm pretty sure things can't get better than chillin with Jake Shimabukuro.

This story keeps getting better and better. :shaka:

I guess it depends on your point of view. I met these two UU brothers at the Jake concert last night in Rochester, NY. I introduced myself, and we chatted a bit. Nice guys, both of them.

They showed me that they had brought their ukes with them, and I suggested that they ask Jake to play them and take his picture doing it.

Fast forward to the end of the show. I walk out into the lobby and find the guys standing in an autograph line waiting for Jake to come out. Then, with all the wisdom I've ever been endowed with, I decided that it was way too late and I had to head for home....after all, I had to work today.

I COULD HAVE HUNG WITH JAKE AND THE GUYS!! But, NO-O-O-O! I decided I had to get home and get to bed....somebody just shoot me, already! :wallbash:

Good for you, guys! I'm so jealous.....:(

It was all around one of the best days ever. We were also interviewed by a local news channel before the show. Andddd, when we were walking around the city, these two girls came up to us and asked us to pull it out.... The ukes, of coarse :D and we played a song for them and they loved it!

It was really nice meeting a fellow UU'er like yourself! I hope all goes well on your trip to Virginia, and you have got to tell us about "The Ukulele Shop" down there!

And I know for a fact that your next uke would have been a tenor had you played Jake's uke!
