So looking at some of the solidwood alternatives to koa, the reasonably priced Kala Acacia as well as the new Ohai Ponos have caught my attention. I prefer pono as a brand over kala, but initially had some reservations about a monkeypod ukulele. After seeing MGMs video, and doing some research into Ohai as a tonewood, It seems that Koa, black Acacia, and Ohai have similar looks and tonal qualities. I was wondering what you guys think, should this be a no brainer for the Pono, or should I give the Kala a shot? The Pono comes with a pickup which is a plus, I guess.
