I finally got back into the swing of writing lyrics. This song came to me today, and it's pretty much finished. All I have to do is finish up arranging the song and record it!
Here are the lyrics:
"I am me, and you are you."
I hate all the things about you
Everything, to the way you tie your shoes.
Of all the things to hate, I wish you knew
I hate how I feel about you.
So tell me all the things you love about me.
Is it my hair, my smile, or my jeans?
Or maybe 'cause I don't really care.
If you're not here, or there, or anywhere?
Every time we go for a trip somewhere
To you or I, nothing seems that fair.
I am me, and you are you.
There's nothing really, that we can do.
We'll walk back and forth, all around town
Trading insults way too loud.
And I'll deny it, day and night
But everything about us just seems so right.
Am I just lying to you my friend?
About the things that I just said?
I wish I could stop this verbal abuse.
But I'm your friend, and that's the truth.
I'm sure you're tired of this boring song.
I'm agitated of rhyming this long.
If you don't believe that I'm your best friend.
Then something's wrong on your very own head.
I dare you to write a song for me
About what a friend is suppose to be.
So don't you fret, and don't you lie.
'Cause we'll be friends 'till we croak, and die.
Am I just lying to you my friend?
About the things that I just said?
I wish I could stop this verbal abuse.
But I'm your friend, and that's the truth.
We figured it out, and it's still true
I am me, and you are you.
