Hey im a cello/uke player, but this summer I was thinking of trying to learn how to play the bass. Is there anyone out there who would know if I could just tune the Bass to the same strings of the cello? I know that some of the strings would be changed dramatically, but if I dont have to learn the new notes, it would be much easier to play. Thanks

I don't see why not. But if you were able to learn the uke, I bet you could learn the bass in standard tuning quite easily.

Have you thought about playing the Chapman Stick? The "bass" side of the instrument is in fifths. I used to have one. They're a lot of fun.

You can tune it to what ever you like just like a guitar or uke.
