I just got my uke yesterday and I played it ALL day :D -

But... I know I'll get used to my fingers being sore, but what about the bump/bruise I am getting on my right arm from the bottom of the uke resting on it? Am I holding it correctly? If so, will I get used to it? I don't know... Its not too bad, but if I put the uke down for a while and pick it back up, it hurts to rest the same spot there.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Play while you are sitting down. That'll help.

This is a good time to point out to you Lisaxy's contest, Third prize is a uke thong. That way there's no need to hold it so tightly.

Congrats on the acquisition of your new uke! Of course, you can hold the ukulele any way you like, I'm of the opinion that there is no right way, per se. But you shouldn't be uncomfortable when you play. That's no fun.

Try to figure out another way to hold it. Take a look at some YouTube ukulele players and see what they do.
