No, laminates will expand and contract with changes in humidity, although not ususally as much as solid wood instruments. Yours just likes high humidity.
Since you know that now...have you been keeping a humidifier in the case? I think it does make a difference in my gurls! But, then again I have been known to be a little retentive about them!

i know dude! i'm in connecticut and my uke seems to have "opened up" this past 3 weeks. but i fear it will NOT rain for another month and the sound will seem to suffer again......new england weather sucks!
Although it might be for different dynamics with a uke. I've found the same thing with wooden didgeridoos, I can hardly play them when the air is so cold and dry in the winter.
