I am a newbie uke player. My uke has reentrant (high G) GCEA tuning. I would like to try reentrant (high A) A,D,F#,B tuning on it. Can I use the same strings for both tunings or do I need to buy separate strings for the reentrant A,D,F#B tuning to avoid damaging the uke or strings?
Thanks.
Richard

You're only going up a single step. Your strings and uke should be able to handle it, no problem. (ADF#B used to be considered standard soprano tuning.) It's not going to put that much of a strain on things.

Thanks for your response. Is what you wrote also true for a tenor uke (can use the same strings)? I assume so, but just want to check to be sure.
Thanks again.
