It is my dream to have every YouTube ukulele player cover Elephant Town.

If you are in the dark as to what Elephant Town is, feast your eyes on little Tia's sublime song. I seriously think it's genius.

This post will be updated with each cover added to the list.

One tiny suggestion - please don't make fun of Tia. She's the bee's knees, and I'd hate for her to think that people are making fun of her.

This is a brilliant idea. Still need to make my naked song campaign video, and I'd rather not combine it with a song written by a 3-year-old, but when I'm in recording mode expect to see something ridiculous from me.

I thought I would like to be the first to do a foreign language version of Elephant Town Finnish tango style.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjwLpfV7MIg

I realise that I may be opening the flood gates here and everybody who is not comfortable singing in English can do so in their own language be it Norwegian, Spanish, Dutch, German or Swedish.

The melody I think has international appeal and although the original version would charm the pants right off you, I think there is room for punk, R&B and even C/W (but not WC) versions of this ukulele classic

P.S. Woo Hoo I am now a senior member.... but hey I knew that from the beginning.

I am going out of town this weekend for the holiday, but it will be priority one when I return. I'll try a vid of it later if I ever finish the paper that I'm putting off to be on UU.

Saddly, I was not content with my previous attempt to cover Elephant Town. The piece is so rich. I knew I could do more with it.

So, behold! My Very First Jazz Arrangement (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYDa7ZkInNE).

Very nice video. I loved the documentary set-up especially. Your performance has a melancholy vibe to it, very different to the frenetic original. Ah, that is what is great about cover versions, being inspired to explore the vast possibilities.
Nice job!

One tiny suggestion - please don't make fun of Tia. She's the bee's knees, and I'd hate for her to think that people are making fun of her.
Oh heavens, no! I think she's absolutely adorable. :)

Playing and composing at such a tender age? The girl's obviously got talent and I hope her family will continue to encourage it.

Maybe this UU campaign will help make her a star.

I don't know about everbody else, But I like to keep up with Elephant town covers, and I noticed only a few people have posted video responses to tia's original.

This tread seems to be a valuable source for covers but it demands that the list is updated every now and then which could become a chore.

A simpler way would be to add all UU Elephant town covers as a video response to seeso's original ( I am not sure how Tia would react to video responses on her video ) but since this is Seeso's campaign with the aim of every ukulele player doing a cover of this song then surely he would have no objections.

Just an idea... what do you think... is there another way??/

With so many great covers already, I wanted to do something with a flourish and a flare as well as a bit of British sophistication. So after many long hours of toil, sweat and tears I came up with this.

Notice how the video is seamlessly interwoven together and made use of wonderful sound effects to add to the atmosphere....

And how my bloomin voice broke at the end...

I'm not yet video-capable, but I knew I wanted to do something to contribute to this wonderful campaign. So, as I always do when I'm pondering The Great Philosophical Questions, I asked myself: "What would Chuck Norris do?"

As I began channeling the Awesome Power Of Chuck, the answer became clear.

Chuck Norris doesn't sing.
He doesn't have to sing.
Because he's Chuck Norris.

All Chuck Norris needs to do is think "Elephant Town," and the music creates itself.

See for yourself!

Nice Funk!

I am still waiting for the Broadway Musical number… I would do it myself, but a) I have already covered this piece twice
b) I have a rather ambitious entry for the Coffee Coffee Coffee Contest that is consuming 95% of my Ukulele time.

(Because you can't do the Broadway version without a serious dance number…)

Let's see, we still need:

Broadway
Ragtime
Bluegrass
Metal (electric uke anyone?)
Alternative
and more!
