I had a luau gig in Ann Arbor on Friday (yeah! no driving) . I played uke and steel and a buddy of mine played guitar. He sprang this tune on me. We did it together on a different luau gig about five years ago.

This is one of the few "Hawaiian" tunes in a minor key. It's actually more of a swing tune than a Hawaiian tune.

It was made famous by Britain's most famous Hawaiian band of the 1930's - Felix Mendelssohn & His Hawaiian Serenaders.

I play all three instruments - my new Talsma solid-body electric tenor uke, a 1993 Heritage Johnny Smith archtop guitar, my 1954 Fender Champion lap steel in C6 tuning, Band In A Box DRUMS. Remarkably there's no bass - that's the Heritage comping the bass line.
