Unless the lava has gotten them, these builders are still on the Big Island and in the 808 area code:

Bob Gleason of Pegasus Guitars and Ukuleles (http://www.pegasusguitars.com/)

Robin Gleason of Island Traditions: (http://www.islandtraditionsinstruments.com/)

and myself of course, Chuck Moore of Moore Bettah Ukuleles (http://www.moorebettahukes.com)

You might put a link to this thread in the original, so people can add their comments / suggestions after reading the list?

It is cool that this list was made.

I might suggest putting a sticky and maybe moving it to the luither section. The sticky so it doesn't get lost in the mix of what threads will surely be written in the future and a move just cause Uke Talk has some many stickys as it stand now.

Thanks for making this list it is a valuable reasource!

I've added a link to Les Rietfors Guitars and Ukuleles. There are photos of the instruments he has built. Check it out and you'll see why his instruments are sought after by collectors.

I was looking at this site and noticed the inclusion of me in the Hawaii makers section. Thanks for that. However, the post says I "occasionally make ukes". That's a little off the mark. I'm not dead or dying yet. I work on building ukuleles and guitars everyday, often 7 days a week, not just occasionally.

Bob, are you taking orders or just building and selling on a first come, first serve basis? As far as the "occasionally", I thought I had read that somewhere. I'll make the necessary correction. Much Mahalos for your response and looking forward to future postings.

It looks like Kamoa is missing, unless you only intended to include brands that are 100% Hawaiian.
