So, about a week ago, I decided to make a ukulele banjo.I live in the UK and we can easily get cheap models here,not so easy to get top level ones! So I went to our local music shop and bought a Mahalo soprano,and a ten inch hand drum.I trashed the soundbox of the Mahalo and kept the neck,which was all I needed from it!
So, a few days fiddling around making up small bits and bobs, and planning the build.Then yesterday (15th July 2009) I travelled over to my friend's home,who has a fully equipped workshop,and built it.I am not a woodworker or a craftsman, so this baby will win no prizes for looks! BUT...it sounds okay,now the strings are settling in.So, here it is:
