And that would be awesome.I don't know about that... I've played some vampire-Djimbe's and vampire-congas before and I didn't really enjoy having blood flowing outta' my fingertips after playing :(

It's already got the widow's peak haircut, it just needs some fangs hanging off the soundhole.

LOL! It probably belonged to a little old voodoo queen who only played it on the full moon!

Someone I know is trying to get it and says it may be worth $150 and might actually be from the 20's or 30's. Thoughts?

My first thought was that if it is playable it's easily worth more than the $50 asking price. Heck, the case might be worth close to it.

And this is why it should be purchased immediately.

I would EASILY pay $100 for that. But .. I just spent the rest of my money on a new uke.

If it's the case -- doesn't look like it's got any kind of support for the uke on the inside. I think the uke would bang around too much. Could be me though.

The scary thing here is that Melissa is crusing Craig's list for ukes only 2 days after getting her first uke...there must be a virulant strain of UAS out there to strike this quickly, I'm raising the threat level to Orange.

:D

I would say it is well worth the $50.00 (with no damage). I have watched Harmony ukes on eBay and soprano size typically go in the $50.00 range (without case). I could be wrong, but I think you can tell the approximate date of the Harmony by the sticker design on the headstock.

Thought the same acctually!

The case looks sufficiently padded to me.

sukie
07-17-2009, 06:17 PM
It's not the padding problem. It's just that it doesn't look as if the ukulele will fit in it snuggly. I wouldn't want my ukulele to be sliding around inside.

KC8AFW

It appears to me that there is a "cutout" that the uke fits in and is quite snug.

They used to build those cases for guitars, they were called "coffin" cases.
I had a real nice one for a small parlor guitar once...:)

It is rare that a Harmony uke fetches that amount of money. It would have to be in really good shape. As for the coffin-shaped case... Musician's Friend has them, but the internal foam had to have been modified to accommodate the uke.

My GF has an old violin (heck, all of her violins are super old... it's a violinist thing) that has one of those coffin cases. It's pretty cool!

But yeah, you know you've got UAS bad when you start lusting after cases. (UCAS?)

You are so totally doomed. Once your UAS kicks in fully...you will have to have different ukes to match your outfit. ;)

But don't worry. We're all here for you (especially when you need someone to tell you which one really brings out the color of your eyes). :D

They still make them.
I was actually looking into seeing if they made custom ones.
However, I popped into my local Guitar Center to check them out.
Coffin Cases..TO ME...seem rather flimsy.
I would not trust any instrument I own in one of those...especially if it is anything that had to be checked by an airline.
They really do have gorillas back there jumping on cases (if anyone can remember those old Samsonite commercials).

I was disappointed to. I wanted them to be strong like bull! I like the concept of them alot.
