I somehow managed to find the one other ukulele player in milledgeville and we're going to meet up when my school starts again in the fall.
I've found out from trying to play with guitar and harmonica players that not having a structured bit ready is a quick way to just end up with a back and forth of solo performances; so I wanted to find some fun things I could do to get ready for when we hang out. I've come up with the following:
- just play a couple songs we know
- play a duet or two specifically
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/m/moldy_peaches/anyone_else_but_you_ver3_crd.htm since it would be easy enough for her to just pick up and play it (i might try and write a support line to it)
as well as 5 years time by Noah and the Whale
(I could use some more duet suggestions by the way)
- she's an art major so I figured I'd pick up a couple of cheap toy ukes and we could paint them (could use a place to find the cheapest ukes possible) < ED: don't think it gets much lower than http://www.amazon.com/BeBoP-Soprano...&s=musical-instruments&qid=1248046500&sr=1-19
- I listened to a bunch of her songs off her myspace and wrote in my own lyrics between her stanzas
any other ideas would be welcome

any more suggestions would be great

ED: heh, I figure it might be nice to put something in here thats not just begging other people to help me with my problems, if you want something fun to do by yourself, try improvising on the uke along with one of you favorite songs
I personally like to try and do it with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwDN9UMMi3c

I bought a $13 First Act Uke at Wal*Mart to paint... It is not really what I would call playable though... You might want to revise your search and look for the cheapest "playable" uke...which is probably gonna bring the price up into the $50 range... If you want to be able to make music after you play it. Send Uke Republic a message, he is a uke retailer near Smyrna, GA, he might have something that is cheap but still sounds good...
