This past Wednesday, 7/22 I drove from Richmond to Bethesda, Maryland for the 1st Ukefest to be held at the Strathmore. The Strathmore is a terrific venue for Concerts, Music, and The Arts. Did not know what to expect but figured I might see a few hundred folks show up for ukulele music. Well, the estimate is up to 2,000 attended. The ukefest featured James Hill, Cathy Fink, Marcy Marxer and Victoria Vox as well as many others. There was a senior citizens uke orchestra, young brownie scout troop playing their colorful ukuleles. We had a great pre-show jam session for anyone in the audience who brought along their uke.

The following night we moved to nearby Takoma Park for a ukulele workshop with James Hill and afterwards James had another concert in a local church.

But was DEACH there? Not a party without deach. :nana:

Never too old for the uke-"Singing in the Rain"

At the Strathmore in Bethesda, Md, there was featured a delightful ukulele orchestra from the Riderwood Senior Community. Ages range up to 93. They performed at the first UkeFest at the Strathmore on July 22.

This was a free outdoor concert that featured many musicians such as James Hill and Victoria Vox. It was a hot summer day, but the music was cool!
