The only problem I see with the plastic frets on my fluke are not being able to use metal wound strings.

But what if I was able to coat the fretmarkers with some sort of paint or liquid metal that would harden stronger than the metal of the strings.

Any thoughts on this idea?

I can't imagine paint of any kind being harder than the frets.

I wondered though if a luthier could grind the plastic frets flush and cut slots for metal ones.

At some point in the future I will have the fretboard replaced with the rosewood option but not till it is needed.

I was just thinking of a quick and dirty solution;)

Get a set of nylon wound KALA Red strings, they sound pretty decent on my Fluke. ;)

Do the Kala Reds come low G wound? I only found the kreds with a metal wound.
