Portable Amp For Floating Music

Portable Amp

I need a portable a battery powed amp that we could use a condenser microphone and a std mic with. We would sing and play ukes thorough the condenser and use the std mic for the bass or for other vocals. Any Suggesitons?

The different issue is the fact that you want to use a condenser mic. Normally I would say hands down my favorite portable amp option is the Roland Mobile Cube(fairly even response, sounds nice w/vocals) But this doesn't have phantom power and phantom power supplies all run off of wall warts. If you are just thinking for live and portable use, a quality dynamic mic would be a better(and more durable/less feedback & background noise) way to go. A lot of people stick with Shure, However, ElectroVoice in my experience makes a little nicer dynamic mic. You don't get as much of the "underwater muffled" sound as you do in the 58's. The Co9 runs about $60(I personally own 8 of these for live vocal mics) If you have the bones, spring for either the ND767a(very nice, very durable mic) or the PL80a($140, the best sub 350 live mic IMO). Just throwing these ideas as a portable amp w/phantom power is something I have yet to see.

Then plug the Nady Phantom power pack into itl I wonder if it would induce hum? Probably not since the initiating power is 12 V. Anyone done this?

I have a


roland microcube. It takes 6 AA batteries and will take either an instrument with a pickup or a regular microphone. I use it at the old folks home shows I do. Now I can plug in my electric fiddle or Applause uke or sing into the mic and strum the uke at the same time. $139 at guitar center. With the electric fiddle you can hear me a block away.

I normally use Senheizer E838 microphones with my Carvin S400D for outside events. They are cardioid, so they have good feedback rejection along with off center audio pickup to allow movement and choral pickup. Maybe your setup would work well with:
