Time to do some experimenting. Wanting to venture in the world of luthiery

~13 by ~17 1 1/2 thick ( yes inches)

Would like to do some hard maple but anything really. You luthiers must have a stash of something interesting.

I'm no electric builder, but my brother tried to make one from Purpleheart. It was almost too heavy to hold with a strap. Definitely a "sit down" instrument.

You might want to look for an Ash body and if you want to make it pretty, add a veneer to the face in the wood of your choice.

hmm... I was planning on making a super thin body out of something exotic with a maple neck. The body is going to be tiny same size as a viola... almost a mini Rickenbacker, I had the idea in my head for years but never attempted to build it yet.
