Really silly uke related question

for the life of me I'm stumped.

how on earth do you get something to come out as .mp3 on garage band? it keeps giving me .m4a's..

I wanna share the love, and this is seriously inhibiting it.

I found this online: "In iTunes prefs, set Import Using to MP3, then choose Convert Selection to MP3 from the Advanced menu."

Yeah, it looks like you have to convert them after you record it maybe? I'm not sure, I don't have a Mac.

Yeah, it does seem that way, but I won't lie, its my first time publishing a song from there. I'm sure some of our garage band non-newbs would know a better way... I also have to upgrade it, i'm using an old version.
