Aloooooooo~ha everyone!

Got a question about recording:

Can anyone give me some advices which microphone to use?
(I recently read condensator mircos are more suited for recording acoustic instruments like our ukes, is that correct?)
What else should i consider when recording the uke?

Besides...My notebooks´s soundcard (onboard) appears not to be the best one...Should i buy an external one?

Keeeeep it U-u-ukiiiiiiin!:shaka:

well heres the thing. yes, condenser microphones usually will provide the best results with almost anything you're recording. the only thing is, using any kind of external mic, be it dynamic or condenser, you will also have to buy a mic to usb interface which run between $60 (blue icicle http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.co...ic-Converter?sku=330275&src=3WWRWXGB&ZYXSEM=0) at the simplest and thousands of dollars depending on how many mics you're using. But for one mic, I would suggest either the icicle or this http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/X2u/ the shure is higher quality, hence the larger price tag, and as for a mic, I would go with this http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.co...ragm-Cardioid-Condenser-Microphone?sku=270620, for the price you can't really beat it. (my friend has one) we recorded this with it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vD-EjJ12L8g , hope this helps:D

Getting a USB interface and messing around with the pre-amp settings along with an external mic will indeed probably give the best results.

But this will also cost you $$$, and may be excessive if you are just wanting to record casually as a hobby.

A cheaper, one-stop method is getting a USB Condenser microphone that plugs into your computer's USB drive. They probably aren't as pro as the above option, but it does give you very good value and decent sound.

I use a Samson C01U. There are other options out there.

Here are some youtube videos of mine that were recorded by the C01U USB condenser mic, uploaded with unedited sound (Audacity recording)

They could probably sound better if I could be bothered playing around with EQ settings and effects.
The sound is also a lot clearer on the original files =\

AKG C 1000 S is a fabulous mic and not too expensive, beats all the Shures hands down.
