View Full Version : School me on Wound Strings

I know they can give off a lower town which is nice when you need some bass in your songs. Aside from that though, when would wound strings be ideal?

I picked up some Aquilas with wound low g and wound c strings for my Kala tenor. I like how they sound but I don’t think I’m nearly skillful enough to play them without creating that annoying “crrrnk” sound when I need to move a long distance on the fretboard.

I’ve got some Worth browns in low g coming in the mail all of which are unwound strings. Can’t wait to try those out.

Yeah, the scratching it annoying, and almost unavoidable. It's normal when you're sliding, the part that i don't like is that My nail just scratches it when I'm picking, eg when I'm playing While my guitar Gently weeps and there's that constant C in there. D:

Luckily, I'll be getting my Pro Artes soon :D
