^that's the one I'm thinking about getting, my questions include:
does anybody know if it will work on the following:
-guitar
-banjo
-oboe (yeah I know I'm crazy)

Will I be able to plug it in to my computer? I saw a good yahoo answers about it that also listed a bunch of freeware for added effects (like distortion) but I can't find it any more.
Thanks for the help

ED: doh supposed to say "pick-up" in the title

You could do this...

but that should work for all 3...

Can't speak for the rest of them, but I have my doubts about it working on the oboe. I'm a clarinet player by training, and it looks like the pickup you're planning on getting needs a flat surface to attach to.... you might have trouble mounting it on the bell of your oboe. The oboe/clarinet pickups I've seen are all more like little clip-on microphones.

That said, I'm no expert. If you get it and try it with the oboe, I'd like to hear how it works!

I don't think it's going to work on Oboe very well, because like snowcooley said, you need a flat surface, and you won't have that on an oboe. But for wind instruments, you're much better off using a mic anyway.
